Philosophy
At Ako Langimalie, we use the concept of a bright, clear sky to illustrate children's bright, open, and happy faces and our strategic framework is informed by these principles:
Ofa | Energy and compassion |
Toka’i | Knowing the basis and sources of knowledge |
Ilo, Ako, Poto | Knowing what to teach (ilo), how to teach (ako) and applying what is taught (poto) |
Mafana & Malie | Warmth and happiness that stems from the hearts of people. |
Partnership
Ako Langimalie Preschool is the result of a partnership between the Tongan Health Society and the Ministry of Education.
It is a bilingual pre-school staffed by Tongan teachers and the school’s programme is based on the Te Whariki Curriculum; New Zealand’s national curriculum.
Te Whariki is a framework for providing tamariki (children’s) early learning and development within a sociocultural context.
We look forward to seeing you at our Ako Langimalie Preschool!
